Memorial Day

Sorry this post doesn't have any pictures. We lent our camera to a friends who were having a baby. I figure those pictures are far more important than any I could put on my blog.

On Monday, we went to 4 different cemeteries and visited the graves of grandmas and grandpas on Jeremy's side of the family. Since we named Clara after 2 people on Jeremy's side of the family, it made this Memorial Day more special for me as we showed Clara the headstones of the people we named her after. We followed the visits of the graves with a BBQ. It was fun to be with family for Memorial Day.

Last night, I showed up early to Provo High's graduation. I wanted to see some old students of mine on their big night. I didn't stay for the ceremony, but I walked around where all the Seniors had to line up. It was so much fun to see so many students. I can't believe a whole year has gone by since I stopped teaching. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. I also can't believe how excited some of them were to see me. I knew 2 or 3 would be, and those were the ones I came to see. But so many more stopped me and wanted to talk. I had planned to be there for about 1/2 an hour, but it turned into an hour and a half! It was fun to get stopped so much. They all wanted to meet Clara and asked if I was glad I was a stay at home mom. I think it was good for them to hear that even though I LOVE teaching, I love being a mom even more. I even had one student of mine tell me that he wanted to be a math teacher right after he made me promise that I would let him come baby sit for me! I had so much fun last night!

Also this week I made up a new recipe. Jeremy liked it so much he wanted me to put it on the blog. He named it Cheesy Chicken - n - rice burritos.

1 cup uncooked rice
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1/2 lb of cooked chicken, diced
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
10 flour tortillas

Cook the rice, then mix with all the other ingredients except the tortillas. When all the ingredients are mixed together, spoon into tortillas. Wrap into a burrito. Cook for 20 minutes at 400.

The flour tortillas get crispy, and it makes for one yummy meal.

Indiana Jones

Jeremy and I went to the dentist this week. It was just for our normal 6 month check up and cleaning. Our appointments were one right after the other, so we all went as a family and we took turns watching Clara in the waiting room. Clara was with Jeremy when he got his new toothbrush. They decided to give Clara her first toothbrush too! So here is a picture of Clara and Daddy brushing their teeth/tooth together. All I have to say for this picture is: "No mom, I'm not eying those really cool movies because I know I'm not supposed to be playing with them!"Jeremy and I saw the new Indiana Jones movie today. If you like Indiana Jones, it was great. It was full of cheesy one liners and far fetched escapes. It also had the typical suspense that borderlines on grossness. We were able to have someone in the ward watch Clara while we went. (Thanks Chely!) It was a great get away and both Jeremy and I loved it.

First Tooth

Clara cut her first tooth Wednesday morning. I have such mixed feelings about it. I'm so excited for this first. But at the same time, it means my little baby is also growing up. Teething hasn't been too bad either. Clara has been fussy, but not like you hear stories about. She will calm down if I'm holding her, so we've had a lot of mom and baby time lately. It's hard to see the tooth in this size. But if you click on the picture it will enlarge it and you can see the tooth between my finger and the edge of her mouth.Other firsts this week include her first pair of hard soled shoes. I might be crazy, but I realized I really have never made Clara wear shoes. The socks also stopped when she started sitting up because they no longer stayed on her feet long enough to make it worth the hassle. So I decided that I would start putting shoes on Clara when I take her outside so that she learns early that shoes need to be worn if you are going outside. If nothing else, at least it is allowing her to get used to shoes.Clara has also started doing this smile thing that is funny to both Jeremy and I. She will tip her head back and smile while squinting her eyes. Who knows why she started this, but it makes Mom and Dad laugh.Clara also cuddled with Dad and we happened to get it on camera. Clara cuddles with me a lot, but when she is with Dad she is usually playing too much to have time to cuddle. However, when she does cuddle, she can get Dad to do anything! :)I would also like to thank Jeremy for the wonderful Mother's Day he gave me. He did a fantastic job of making me feel appreciated for what I do. Thanks for loving me Jeremy!

Our Family

Jeremy came home from work a while ago and told me about a website he had fun with at work. It's a South Park website where you can build a character to look like yourself. Even though it is South Park, it was fun. So here is our little family in cartoon:If you would like to join in the fun, just go to: http://sp-studio.de/

7 months old

Clara turned 7 months old on Sunday, so I thought I would post some pictures of her.
These first few were taken when we first got our high chair. Clara looked so little in it. She also has gotten to be quite the eater. It took her so long to figure out what food is. But now that she knows, she gets so excited to eat. She's even figured out that when mommy and daddy are putting utensils in their mouth they are eating too, and she wants to eat what we're eating. It's kind of funny to watch her body language when she is trying to tell us she wants to eat too. This picture is Clara in a dress that she got from her Great-grandmother. Thanks Maga! This picture is so that you can see how pretty she is in her new dress. These last 2 are of our little girl sleeping. (I know you can tell that from the picture.) I'm amazed at the love I can feel just by watching her sleep. I take so many pictures of her then because she always looks so precious to me. The last one I took because of how twisted her body is. In case you can't tell, her back is arched so that her bum is pretty close to her head. How can anyone sleep like that? Now that she moves around more, she has gotten into some pretty strange sleeping positions.

Our New Place

I finally finished unpacking everything last night. I can't believe it took 2 weeks to move! I am so glad it's over. Here are some pictures of our new place:
This first one is looking into our living room from our front door. This one is looking into our bathroom/hall area from our front door. This is Clara's room. (Notice that our bed is no where to be found. Yeah for a 2 bedroom apartment.)This is looking into our kitchen from our living room. And this one is looking outside from our back door. I love how kid friendly our new place is. I'm loving living next to so many stay at home moms. It is so friendly here that it's hard to take out the garbage or check the mail without getting stopped by someone to visit.

Our Old Place

This is what we moved from. Notice the piles of boxes. We had no storage space, so we used our bedroom as storage space. This first picture was taken after we had already moved some boxes too! Oh how we are loving the room in our new apartment!
