A Favorite Thing

One of my favorite things that Clara does is want me to read to her. She picks a book from the shelf, hands it to me as she is facing me. She then turns around and backs without looking until her feet hit something and then she sits down. Most of the time it is my leg she hits, and so she sits herself down on my lap. I love that. Sometimes it's not my leg she hits and so she falls down over a toy. Even that is pretty funny though.
Another favorite thing is when she reads to herself. She'll open a book, turn pages, point to pictures and be talking to herself the whole time. This picture is of her friend Taylor and Clara. I came into the living room and found both of them reading. It was too cute to pass up.

Getting Old

Apparently Clara thinks Jeremy is now getting too old to feed himself. I love all the expressions in these pictures. Jeremy seems to always be leery of what he is allowing Clara to do. In this first picture I'm sure Clara is thinking, "I'm so big, I can even feed Daddy! I can't believe he's actually letting me!" "Mmmmmm, see I can talk to you like you talk to me." "Ok, enough for you, I want some yummy yogurt too." This last picture is of the little girl I babysit. She's not quite crawling yet, but can scoot inch by inch until she finally reaches something she wants. I had put the bigger toys out for her to play with, but apparently that wasn't enough. She really wanted that little tub of toys. She was so proud of herself when she actually reached it and pulled it off the shelf. She orginally had both hands just a goin' in the tub, but by the time I had gotten the camera out, she was more distracted by it than the toys.

Discovery Gateway

There is a children discovery museum at the Gateway Mall. My friend Suzi treated Clara and I to it last Friday. Clara had so much fun. It was hard getting her to look at me to take pictures because she didn't want to be interrupted. Her favorite were the balls. You could put them in different tubes and watch them go around the room. She loved throwing the balls! Her next favorite thing was the play house. She loved sitting at a little table and playing with the baby. The baby was a hot item though, and as soon as Clara put it down, another little kid grabbed it. Clara started sobbing at that point, so we had to leave the little house and find something else that was fun to distract her. They have a grocery store there where you can go shopping. They have cars and even a real helicopter you can play in. We had a blast. Thanks Sushi for letting us come with you!

1st Purse and Ponytail

OK, so this is not a picture of her first ponytail. I put her hair in one for church a few weeks ago, but by the time we got home, it was all messed up. She hates me touching her head. Once the ponytail is in, it's fine but she keeps swatting my hands away as I'm putting it in. So, I waited a few more weeks before I tried it again. The funny thing is that you can't even tell from the front that she has a ponytail in. Oh well. Thanks to my friend Keri, Clara has received her very first purse. She carries it all over the house. She loves putting toys in just to take them out a few steps later. It makes me laugh. Thanks again Keri! I love this last picture because it shows you what a diva our little girl can be. Thanks for being you little Clara!

Update: Jeremy has only worked at his new job for a week and he has already received a $0.50 raise! He loves the people he works with and is actually coming home with a smile on his face! Yeah for new jobs!

3rd job's the charm?

So Jeremy started another new job this week. Last week, both of his part time jobs didn't let him go, but also gave reasons why he can't come to work for a few months. So Jeremy started searching yet again.... Luckily an old co-worker of his (who has started his own company) found Jeremy's resume on line. Mark (the co-worker) called Jeremy and asked him if he was still looking for a job. The funny thing is that Jeremy started working there before he even had his interview. They are willing to work around a school schedule, along with making sure Jeremy has 30 hours every week so that we can receive medical benefits. Jeremy said that he has a great work atmosphere, so right now we are very grateful for a new job. Let's just hope this one doesn't turn out like the last few jobs he's had! This one isn't in graphic design, but they did tell Jeremy that when they need a graphic artist, Jeremy will be their man.

And, since I don't like to post without a picture, here is the picture of the week. I came into the living room after hearing Clara be too quiet. I expected her to be into something she shouldn't be since that is always what happens when she is too quiet. Instead, I found this. Her relaxing next to her spilled cereal. It made me think she looked like she passed out from over eating or something. Thanks for making me laugh yet again little Clara!
